PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING

  1. Tutors commit for fixed-term contracts of 3 to 6 months!
  2. Tutors can generally only start tutoring from 15:00 or 16:00
  3. Tutors are generally between the ages of 20 and 24
  4. Tutors ONLY do tutoring – they do NOT do other duties such as transporting kids around, lunchboxes etc.
  5. The tutor will come to your home to tutor your child
  6. The tutor can tutor one child at a time successfully – so if you have more than 1 child they need separate tutoring time

Tutor Rates

Tutors generally earn R200 per hour or a minimum of R2500 per month
Tutors do not receive a petrol reimbursement as they do not transport the children around

Subjects

  1. Maths
  2. English
  3. Afrikaans
  4. Zulu
  5. Science

However once the child is in high school very rarely will a single tutor be able to assist a child with all subjects due to the fact that teachers specialize in subjects at that level. Therefore for high school children we do require that the parent indicates what subjects the child needs a tutor for and in the event that there are multiple subjects, multiple different tutors may be assigned specific to each subject.

What can I expect?

  1. That the children’s marks improve / are maintained
  2. That the children are more focused on their homework
  3. That the children learn how to study for tests and exams
  4. That the children feel more confident regarding school work and the curricular
  5. That the children’s report comments will improve
  6. That the children take a more serious approach in terms of their school work

tutors

Please note however that if your child’s grades do not improve it may be necessary to have your child formally assessed for other possible issues in terms of their educational development such as learning and/or behavioural problems.

The following is a guideline of suggested tutor salaries and rates for families who require a tutor. High calibre tutors are considered to be candidates who have at least a minimum of 1 year formal tutoring or teaching experience (friends and family do not count), or who are studying at tertiary level (i.e. university) in the respective subject that requires tutoring.

Tutor Salaries and Rates

A tutor generally earns between R180 and R200 per hour, however the more hours you do for a family the lower the rate. If you work an average of 2 hours per day, 4 days per week you can look at earning between R3500 and R4500 per month.

Petrol reimbursement is NOT required for tutoring positions.

We do charge a once-off R120 registration fee, which is payable at the interview with the agency. The registration fee covers your criminal check, reference checks, driver’s license check etc.
